After they both left Saturday's game against the Nashville Predators with lower-body injuries, the Washington Capitals have given updates on forward T.J. Oshie and defenceman John Carlson.

Oshie appeared to pull something during the first period on Saturday, while Carlson also got hurt in the opening frame. Both players left the game and did not return.

The Capitals announced that T.J. Oshie is out indefinitely, while John Carlson is day-to-day and will not suit up for Monday's game against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Oshie, 35, is off to a fairly strong start to the 2022-23 season. In nine games, he's recorded five points (two goals, three assists), six penalty minutes and has an even-rating.

Carlson, 32, has also had a very good start to his season. The Natick (Massachusetts) native has put up six points (two goals, four assists), two penalty minutes and is a minus-two in nine games.

Washington, minus Oshie and Carlson, will look to win their sixth game of the season on Monday night as they travel to Raleigh to take on the Hurricanes. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. ET.
