The Washington Nationals announced on Saturday that they will no longer hold their virtual World Series ring ceremony on Sunday, after consulting with players who, instead, want to receive the rings when they can be together physically.

However, the team still plans on unveiling the design of the rings, screening a documentary about the 2019 season, and a chat with players such as Ryan Zimmerman, Howie Kendrick, and Max Scherzer through video.

The Nationals had originally planned to give out the jewelry through a virtual ceremony to adhere with social distancing rules, and because the fans likely will not be able to attend games if the 2020 campaign starts.

The Nationals defeated the Houston Astros in seven games last season to win its first championship in franchise history.
