Earlier this year, Bracco was rumoured to have been quite unhappy with the organization and the way he has been deployed over the past few years. In fact, earlier this season, Bracco had requested a trade prior to being granted a lengthy leave of absence from the Marlies.
Due to Bracco's status as a restricted free agent, along with the emergence of young sniper Nick Robertson - who has a legitimate shot at making the Maple Leafs roster out of training camp following a stellar 2019-20 OHL season in which he recorded an incredible 55 goals and 86 points in just 46 games - and the arrival of KHL winger Alex Barabanov, the writing is pretty much on the wall for the 23-year-old Freeport, New York native.
The Maple Leafs had originally drafted Bracco in the 2nd round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft (61st overall). Last season with the Marlies, Bracco notched 57 points through 75 games. Though he was expected to take a big step forward this season with the Marlies, Bracco managed just 30 points through 44 games prior to taking leave from the team and requesting a trade.
