Boston Bruin's goaltender Tuukka Rask created some buzz when an interview that got dropped in March suggested he may be contemplating retirement. He is now clarifying those comments, saying he hasn't given retirement a thought and does not know what the future holds.

Rask spoke with media Monday on a conference call and was asked if the NHL pause has him thinking about the possibility of retirement.

“Not really. I haven't thought about retirement at all,” said Rask. “It's been such weird times I've put all my focus on my family at this time and just tried to enjoy that. But last summer was very short, the past two seasons have been kind of combined together it's felt like, so I've kind of used this time off just to get my mind off of hockey and focus on family. We travel a lot and it gets taxing mentally sometimes to be away from your family, so I just try to refocus my energy to the family and just be present here at home. I know that this summer I can start talking to the Bruins about a possible extension, and when that day comes we'll see what happens. But I definitely haven't put any thought into retirement or anything like that. We'll see how this season plays out and then we'll see if there are extension talks that happen.”

Rask, 33, was having one of his better NHL seasons to date prior to the pause. He has a 2.12 goals against average along with a .929 save percentage and a sparkling 26-8-6 record. He was considered one of the front runners for the Vezina trophy and will very likely be nominated if the season is not able to be continued.

It has to be relieving for Bruins fans to hear that Rask misspoke and is not considering retiring anytime soon. He has been one of the best goaltenders in the league for many years now, and isn't showing any signs of slowing down.
