Dallas Stars forward Corey Perry is hoping to finish this season out with the Dallas Stars and go on a
Stanley Cup run.

“I feel really good,” Perry said in an article published by the Stars website this week. “I've been working
hard, I'm not getting any younger, so I have to work hard. Some things you can't control, so you adjust
to whatever comes, and have fun with it.

“I know there's more hockey left in me, and I'll be ready when the time comes.”

Perry, 35, is a pending unrestricted free agent. The former Hart Trophy winner is in his first season with
the Dallas Stars, posting five goals and 21 points in 57 games. Though he isn't nearly the player he once
was, he is a terrific veteran leader who is still able to produce some secondary offence on a loaded Stars
team. He did not address his plans for next season, noting that he is still focused on this season being
played out.

“I know where I am in my career and what the impact this would have,” Perry said. “I don't want to lose
this opportunity.”

Prior to the NHL pause, Dallas sat in third place in the Central Division behind the St. Louis Blues and the
Colorado Avalanche.

“I look at our team and we're a veteran team but we also have a lot of youth in our lineup,” Perry said. “I
look at how [the St. Louis Blues won the Stanley Cup last season], how [the Boston Bruins] got to the
[Final], and they played heavy games, and I see our team being like that. You need to have some grit in
the playoffs, because the ice feels like it gets smaller out there, there's not a lot of room. I feel our team
is definitely built for the playoffs.”

Though Perry remains adamant he wants this season to return, it is still up in the air at this point. It will
be interesting to see whether or not the Stars management believes he did enough this season to

warrant signing him to another contract next year. To this point in his career he has 377 goals and 420
assists in 1045 games.
