After spending the last three seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks, defenceman Calvin de Haan
is returning to the Carolina Hurricanes, where he played one season in 2018-19. It's a one-year deal, which Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman says is worth $850,000.
de Haan is a former 12th overall pick of the New York Islanders in 2009. The 31-year-old is a veteran of 520 regular season NHL games (19 G, 100A) and another 37 in the playoffs (1G, 4A).
de Haan was at Carolina's training camp on a professional tryout deal.
"We obviously knew Calvin from his previous time in Carolina," said Canes GM Don Waddell. "We like what we've seen from him in camp and saw this as an opportunity to increase our depth on the back end."
