Timothy Liljegren of the Toronto Maple Leafs will be starting the season on long-term injured reserve. Leafs GM Kyle Dubas met with members of the media on Wednesday where he updated Liljegren's status. Liljegren recently had hernia surgery, and will miss a minimum of six weeks.
Liljegren is a former 1st-round pick (17th overall) of Toronto in 2017. Last year was the first full season in the NHL for the 23-year-old. He played 61 games, notching 5 goals and 23 points.
Toronto released its training camp roster Tuesday, and Liljegren isn't the only name on it who's currently on the injured list.
Pierre Engvall,
Joseph Woll, and
Mikhail Abramov are also listed as unavailable right now.
