Vegas Golden Knights Announce Major Changes to 2022-23 Uniforms

The Vegas Golden Knights announced today their plans to shift to their gold sweaters, previously worn as an alternate jersey, will become the team's primary home kit. They are calling it simply, 'The Golden Age.'

In addition to the permanent shift to gold, the Golden Knights will also change the color of their 'away' pants from black to grey, so as to match the pants worn at home. Vegas' grey jersey, formerly worn at home, will remain an alternate jersey, to be worn with the black pants.

Fans, generally, do not ~love~ the gold concept as a mainstay, per a recent internet poll. In fact, the Golden Knights' new home sweater ranked 31st out of 32.

With a natural flair for the dramatic, Vegas had to make some sort of splash this season, as if that organization needed any more instability. The gold look is certainly different and unlike anything we've seen in the NHL before.

"After a memorable five years as the 31st NHL franchise, we look forward to advancing to the latest era of Golden Knights hockey," said Golden Knights President Kerry Bubolz. "While being Vegas Born will always be a significant part of our identity, The Golden Age represents a time of all-new adventures and opportunities as we and our city emerge in the post-pandemic world. As we continue to pursue the ultimate goal of bringing a Stanley Cup to Vegas and our passionate fanbase, we are consistently looking for ways to enhance our product, and we couldn't be more excited for the sixth season of hockey in the desert."

It is hard to believe the Golden Knights are already in their sixth season -- they grow up so fast. In its short NHL lifespan, Vegas is quickly transforming into a hockey hotbed; the team has had great success so far, only missing the playoffs once and advancing the Cup final in its first season.

Rumors have also circulated that Las Vegas could play host to the 2026 World Junior Championship, which would be incredibly exciting.

The Golden Knights ride into '22-23 looking to reinstate their position as a powerhouse in the Western Conference. Under new head coach, Bruce Cassidy, the Knights' goaltending situation is already in shambles, relying on the trio of Adin Hill, Logan Thompson, and Michael Hutchinson to hold the fort. Will the gold sweaters get it done?
