Montreal's first-overall pick did miss the team's match against New Jersey last night, in which the Habs lost thanks to the overtime heroics of Alexander Holtz and Simon Nemec, two of New Jersey's best and brightest prospects.
If I had to speculate, Slafkovsky likely sustained his ailment after taking a hard center ice hit, even though he barely moved. Still, the impact still could have knocked something out of order. Again, pure speculation.
Slafkovsky certainly looked a little woozy after that hit. He absorbed it without leaving his feet, but it was still a hard hit.
Nevertheless, the rather beefy 6'4'' 238lb Slovak is ready to return to action tomorrow night, and hopefully we are able to see some of his skills on display.
