Per Calgary Flames reporter Pat Steinberg, the team has signed forward Emilio Pettersen to a three-year, entry-level contract. The Norwegian born forward was selected by the Flames in the sixth round (167th) at the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.

Pettersen, 20, was drafted by the Flames following his season in the USHL with the Muskegon Lumberjacks. He then went on to spend the last two seasons playing for the University of Denver. This season saw him post 13 goals and 22 assists in 36 games. Those numbers earned him a spot on the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team, as well as being named a NCHC Second Team All-Star.

In total, the 5'10' forward put up 65 points in 76 games for the University of Denver. Although it is early, this appears to be a potential draft steal by the Flames. Having said that, it is likely he begins his professional career in the AHL for the Stockton Heat next season.
