Have you ever been watching a playoff game that goes to three, four, even five OTs and thought, 'there has to be a better way?'
Generally, I really like the Stanley Cup Playoffs' overtime format, but if they were ever to amend the process, I think I found the leading option: Find the Duck.
Here's how it works: each team selects two players and blindfolds them. Set up a circular pen at center ice, inside the center faceoff circle, and release a duck in the middle of the pen. First team to secure the duck wins:

Sure, it could get messy. But this is merely a jumping off point if we ever did want to adjust the playoff-overtime format, that's all.
Maybe as an All-Star weekend activity? Listen, all I'm saying is...if the NHL is serious about growing the game and generating extra revenue, we need to keep an open mind about obscure means to do so.
Just don't knock it until giving it a fair shake.
