According to Larry Brooks of Slapshots and the NY Post, the New York Rangers and Jimmy Vesey have a reunion 'on the horizon.'

In 2012, Vesey was drafted 66th overall by the Nashville Predators, but he never played a game for them. The Harvard-product would play all four years for the Crimson, which made him a free agent. A team has four years to sign a drafted player to an entry-level contract before he becomes eligible for free agency.

Vesey signed with the Rangers out of college, totaling 50 goals & 40 assists in 240 games with the blue shirts. He's been a suitcase since 2019, playing for four teams in three seasons, lastly for the rival New Jersey Devils. In fourth line minute for the Devils, Vesey scored 15 points in 68 games. He was dynamite for New Jersey's penalty-kill in 2021-22, but other than that he is a defensively responsible replacement-level depth forward.

Brooks reports that the deal will likely be near or at the league minimum $750,000. Presumably, Vesey would slot into NYR's bottom-six and could even see AHL time if the Rangers have a fully healthy bunch. Nevertheless, at this point no official announcement has been made, so stay tuned.
