One of the top prospects in the Edmonton Oilers' system won't be making the jump to North America next year. Defenseman Philip Broberg, selected 8th overall in 2019, will remain in the Swedish Hockey League. That's according to Oilers General Manager Ken Holland.

Broberg played 45 games with Skelleftea in 2019-20, scoring one goal and adding seven assists. He also helped Sweden capture the bronze medal at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship. He will remain with Skelleftea in 2020-21 to further his development.

Broberg, 18, signed his three-year entry-level contract with Edmonton just three days after being drafted last July.
