The Vegas Golden Knights announced on Thursday that they've signed 2022 Olympic gold medalist and golden-goal scorer from the 2022 World Championship, Sakari Manninen, to a one-year contract worth $750,000.
Manninen, 30, spent the 2021-22 season in the KHL with Salavat Yulayev Ufa, where he had 32 points (nineteen goals, thirteen assists), twelve penalty minutes and was a plus-three in 38 games. In March, he left the team due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
The Oulu native had a big year on the international stage with Finland. He had seven points in six games at the 2022 Winter Olympics in China, helping Finland win their first-ever Olympic gold medal. Then, three months later he helped Finland win the 2022 World Hockey Championship, scoring the golden goal in overtime against Canada.
