Veteran defenceman Alex Edler re-signs with Los Angeles

Alex Edler is remaining in Los Angeles. The Kings announced on Tuesday that the 36-year-old has agreed to a one-year contract worth $750,000. Edler's contract also includes a $750,000 games played bonus.

The Ostersund (Sweden) native has a fairly good first season in Los Angeles. He appeared in 41 games during the regular season, recording nineteen points (three goals, sixteen assists), 34 penalty minutes and was a plus-eighteen. Edler went on to appear in all seven of Los Angeles' games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, putting up two assists and fourteen penalty minutes.

Los Angeles has ten players that are set to become unrestricted free agents on Wednesday. Among those hitting the open market are Andreas Athanasiou, Brendan Lemieux, Troy Stetcher and Olli Maatta.
