Denver Broncos have released QB Joe Flacco
Following the Denver Broncos organization coming to an agreement of terms earlier this week with quarterback Jeff Driskel to serve as backup to Drew Lock, the team has released former Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco.
Flacco, who spent one season with the Broncos after parting ways with the Baltimore Ravens, spent the second half of the season on Denver's injured reserve due to a herniated disk.
The 35-year-old went 2-6 in his 8 starts with Denver, throwing for 1,822 yards with six touchdowns and five interceptions, while holding a completion percentage of 63.5%.
Flacco exiting the Broncos roster will save the organization just over $10 million against the cap, as they look to prepare for the 2020-21 season.
Through 12 NFL seasons, the veteran quarterback has gone 98-73 as a starter, throwing for 40,067 yards, 218 touchdowns and 141 interceptions.
During the 2012 Playoffs, Flacco threw 11 touchdown passes without an interception through four games, leading the Baltimore Ravens to a Super Bowl XLVII victory.
At this time, it's unknown where Flacco may land ahead of next season, as he becomes one of multiple free agent quarterbacks currently available.
