DeAngelo, 26, had his rights traded from the Carolina Hurricanes, along with a 2022 seventh round pick on Friday in exchange for a 2022 fourth round pick, a 2023 third round pick and a 2024 second round pick.
The Sewell (New Jersey) native is now in the fifth National Hockey League organization of his young career. He was drafted by Tampa Bay in 2014, then traded to Arizona three years later. After a season in the desert, DeAngelo was traded to the New York Rangers, where he would spend parts of the next four seasons, before signing with the Carolina Hurricanes as a free agent in 2021.
In 64 games this season with Carolina, DeAngelo had 51 points (ten goals, 41 assists), 56 penalty minutes and was a plus-30. He went on to add ten points in fourteen games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
