The Pittsburgh Penguins announced on Tuesday that they've agreed to terms on a two-year contract worth $3.6 million ($1.8 million AAV) with goaltender
Casey DeSmith.
DeSmith, 30, was set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 13th. The Rochester (New Hampshire) native signed with the Penguins as a free agent back in 2017 and has been with them ever since.
In 26 games this season, DeSmith posted a record of 11-6-5 with a 2.79 GAA, a .914 save percentage and three shutouts. He also appeared in one game during the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the New York Rangers, but left with a core muscle injury in the second overtime period of Game 1. He missed the remainder of the series but will be good to go for training camp in September.
