With the recent outpouring of professional sports leagues suspending their seasons, including the NBA, MLS, MLL, NCAA, MLB, and as of Thursday morning, the National Hockey League, it comes as no surprise the American Hockey League has made the same call.

Effective as of Thursday, the AHL has suspended the remainder of their regular season in light of the Coronavirus pandemic, as decided by the American Hockey League Board of Governors, until further notice.

The AHL's official statement regarding the suspension of play;

“With the health and safety of our players, officials, staff and fans of primary importance, the American Hockey League has announced the suspension of play until further notice, effective immediately, due to concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic.

The AHL will continue to monitor developments and will provide updates on the 2019-20 season at the appropriate time.”
