A reporter's post showing him lifting the Stanley Cup above his head following the Colorado Avalanche's win over the weekend has raised the ire of a few people, including some of his colleagues. Mike Chambers of the Denver Post has been writing about the Avs for some time, and has been covering hockey for the Post since 2000. On Monday, he posted two photos on his Twitter account, one of him being handed the Cup by Colorado captain Gabriel Landeskog, and another of him with the Cup held over his head.

Chambers' pics didn't sit well with many who felt it was completely unprofessional for a reporter to show bias and to get to lift the greatest prize in the sport of hockey without actually winning it.
This is the moment where Mike was never again taken seriously as a journalist.— Ron Clements (@Ron_Clements) June 27, 2022

Absolutely wrong.— Bill Hunt (@BillHuntFreddy) June 27, 2022
Others were quick to point out that it's really not a big deal, and when the captain of a Stanley Cup winning team hands you the trophy and tells you to "hold it high", you do it. I'm pretty sure I would if ever given that opportunity. It seems to me that people are forgetting that reporters, especially those at the local level, travel with teams, get to know the players, and root for them all season long. I'm also willing to bet Chambers isn't the first reporter to do this, and likely far from it.
