Hockey Canada Settles Sexual Assault Lawsuit Including Members of 17-18 WJC Team

TSN Hockey's Rick Westhead released a story today detailing a sexual assault lawsuit, alleging eight CHL Players, some of whom played on Canada's 2017-18 World Junior Championship team, sexually assaulted her while she was intoxicated. The case was settled, details non-disclosed. The plaintiff, known as E.M., sought damages for punitive & future pecuniary damages, emotional stress, & general pain & suffering totaling $3.55 million.
The plaintiff's attorney declined to comment whether or not a non-disclosure agreement was signed between the parties. Ultimately the lawsuit highlighted Hockey Canada & how they've serially «ignored or failed to reasonably address institutionalized and systemic abuse» and «had knowledge that over the last number of years, its players were subjected to sexual assault and also encouraged to sexually assault others.»
