SOCCER CLUB SUSPENDS PLAYER AFTER MESSAGES SENT TO NAZEM KADRI

MAY 25, 2022  (8H04)      TIM TUCKER
Consequences have come about after nasty, racist messages were sent to Nazem Kadri of the Colorado Avalanche. During game three of the Avs' second round series against the St. Louis Blues, Kadri was involved in a collision with Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington that knocked the netminder out of the game and, as it was revealed later, the remainder of the series. The next day, Kadri's wife posted screenshots of several messages he had received that contained racism and violence. None of the names of the people who had sent the messages were covered in the screen shots that started being shared on social media. Now, one of the people who sent Kadri a message is paying the price.

A screenshot making the rounds now shows someone determined that one of the messages came from a player with the St. Louis Scott Gallagher Soccer Club. The organization offers programs for males and females from the age of 6 to under 20.

Following that conversation, St. Louis Scott Gallagher released a statement saying the person had been suspended from their program pending an investigation. It also condemned the person's actions in every way.

The level of racism and hate that Kadri received was stunning. Equally as surprising is the number of people around who assume they can send these types of messages and go without consequences. One reporter who posted a screenshot of the messages Kadri received got a message from the brother of one of the people asking that his Tweet be removed.
