Just over a week ago, Barry Trotz was fired by the New York Islanders after spending four years as their bench boss. In his tenure on Long Island, Trotz guided them to back-to-back appearances in the third round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, Trotz will be interviewing with his hometown team, the Winnipeg Jets, on Tuesday.

"Hearing Winnipeg is interviewing Barry Trotz for its coaching position today." Friedman said.

The Jets are in the process looking for their permanent head coach after Paul Maurice stepped down in December after spending parts of nine seasons at the helm. Assistant Coach Dave Lowry took over on an interim basis and is expected to be in the running for the permanent position.
