USA Hockey announced on Saturday that they've added a trio of Minnesota Wild players to their roster for the 2022 IIHF World Hockey Championship. Forwards Matt Boldy, Ryan Hartman and defenceman Jon Merrill will join the United States in Tampere in the coming days.
"We are excited to add three exceptional players to our roster," said Ryan Martin, general manager of the U.S. Men's National Team. "They all had terrific seasons in the NHL and bring international experience to our group. We look forward to them being important parts of our team."
This will be the first appearance at the World Championship for all three of them. Merrill represented the U.S. at the 2011 and 2012 World Juniors, Hartman at the 2013 World Juniors and Boldy at the 2021 World Juniors.
The United States opened their tournament on Friday with a 4-1 over Latvia and will look to make it two wins in a row on Sunday at 9:20 a.m. ET against Austria.
