Stanley Cup Playoff clinching scenarios for April 12th
The 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs are set to begin in less than three weeks, and five teams have already booked their ticket. Those teams being the Carolina Hurricanes, Colorado Avalanche, Florida Panthers, New York Rangers, and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
On Tuesday, three of the final four spots in the Eastern Conference can be clinched by the Boston Bruins, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Tampa Bay Lightning.
Let's take a look at how each of those three teams can clinch their spot tonight.
The Boston Bruins will clinch a playoff spot if:
- They defeat the St. Louis Blues in any fashion.
OR
- They get one point against the St. Louis Blues AND the Pittsburgh Penguins defeat the New York Islanders in regulation.
The Pittsburgh Penguins will clinch a playoff spot if:
- They defeat the New York Islanders in regulation.
The Tampa Bay Lightning will clinch a playoff spot if:
- They defeat the Dallas Stars in any fashion.
OR
- They get one point against the Dallas Stars AND the Pittsburgh Penguins defeat the New York Islanders in any fashion.
OR
- The Pittsburgh Penguins defeat the New York Islanders in regulation.
