The Ontario Hockey League today announced it has fined the Niagara Ice Dogs $150,000 & suspended indefinitely its owners, Joey & Billy Burke. This announcement comes on the heels of an investigation into transcripts from WhatsApp messages, per the OHL.
Their official statement here:
-
The Ice Dogs are in last place in the Eastern Conference & next-to-last in the league standings.
Times are tough for this organization, no doubt. But there might be a hint of good news to come out of this.

Translated: "A knowledgeable source tells me that this other offense could be the latest in a problematic family for the @OHLHockey. The former
@Senators Mike Fisher would be at the head of a group that will buy the team from the Burke family."
That would certainly be a move in the right direction for the organization. Mike Fisher commands lots of respect around the hockey world, so his role would certainly benefit the Niagara Ice Dogs.
