The Colorado Avalanche are in the market for a top-six forward, according to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period.
They've been in on Philadelphia Flyers captain Claude Giroux for over a month now, but they may have their sights set on adding an even bigger name, Patrick Kane.
Pagnotta mentioned in his trade deadline primer segment that the Colorado Avalanche have reached out to the Chicago Blackhawks in regards to Patrick Kane's availability. He added that a move for Kane may not be in the cards before March 21st's deadline though.
When the Blackhawks officially introduced Kyle Davidson as their new general manager earlier this week, he said that the team is in a rebuild. That statement made many people wonder if Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews would be a part of that rebuild. Davidson will likely meet with the pair in the near future to discuss his plans. Both Kane and Toews have one more year remaining on their contract following the 2021-22 season at a cap hit of $10.5 million each.
Other names that the Avalanche have checked in on according to David Pagnotta are Vancouver Canucks forward J.T. Miller, New York Islanders forward Cal Clutterbuck and Montreal Canadiens forward Artturi Lehkonen.
