A scary moment in KHL preseason action as Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Rodion Amirov went head first into the boards during Friday's matchup against Severstal Cherepovets.

The play occurred early in the third period, as Amirov appeared to lose his footing while being forced to the outside by a Severstal defender while attempting to drive the net, sending him crashing into the end boards. The 19-year-old remained down on the ice for several minutes.

Amirov, who signed his deal entry level contract with the Leafs back in April, is currently preparing for his sophomore KHL season, anticipating a larger role and top-six minutes with Salavat Yulaev Ufa.

First and foremost, hopefully the young winger is alright, as head injuries in general are quite scary. Obviously, spending any significant time on the shelf would not be the ideal way for Amirov to start the season - one that appears to be quite important for his development with an increased role with Ufa this season.

Hopefully we can get an update on Amirov's condition at some point soon.

Amirov has scored at least one point in every preseason game for Ufa thus far, including 2 goals and 3 assists for 5 points in 4 games.
