After months of speculation, it appears as though the New Jersey Devils have finally landed their goaltender in the form of Calgary Flames veteran Jacob Markstrom.

There were some big time moves made at the 2024 NHL trade deadline, but one deal that fell apart was Jacob Markstrom to the New Jersey Devils, with the Calgary Flames front office reportedly nixing a deal. Now, things have finally gone through, as TSN's Travis Yost broke the news on X;

Believe Calgary's Jakob Markstrom is being traded to New Jersey.

The deal has been months in the making, and after both teams failed to make the playoffs, a move became more and more likely given the different directions that both organizations are heading in.

With the Flames looking to rebuild, getting assets for the future was the right move, and now, the Devils have given themselves a window to compete for a Stanley Cup, with more moves to be made to ensure their status as a contender heading into 2024-25.
