Alex Ovechkin confirms he's planning to leave the Washington Capitals
Alex Ovechkin has been the heart and soul of the Washington Capitals ever since he was drafted first overall in the 2004 NHL entry draft. Now, approaching 39 years old, the end is near.
Alex Ovechkin has two more years on his five-year $9.5M annual contract, and, per recent reports, he is not intending on finishing his career as a member of the Washington Capitals, but rather with Dynamo Moscow of the KHL.
Per former Dynamo Moscow assistant coach Vladimir Fedosov, Alex Ovechkin may spend several years at the end of his career with Dynamo.
"He said himself that he would finish his career in Dynamo... the white-and-blue fans can definitely sleep easy. If Alexander's health is good, he will be able to play until the age of 45,"
With 42 goals to go to break Wayne Gretzky's all-time great goal record, Alex Ovechkin isn't done quite yet in the NHL, but, it certainly seems that he will not be ending his career on this side of the pond.
When this move will come? We aren't quite sure, but we are only a few years away from seeing Ovechkin in a different jersey.
