The Boston Bruins and the Toronto Maple Leafs meet again for another first round duel for the third time in the last seven years. Throughout the series, there will be a ton of trash talking, foul play, and tough decisions by referees, which makes this rivalry so great. Last night, NHL referees had to intervene over a questionable call.
On Saturday night, the Maple Leafs suffered a very tough loss at the hands of the Bruins in Game 1 with the Bruins keeping their foot on the gas pedal from the start to the finish which evidently stunned the Leafs. In what was a game to forget for the Maple Leafs as there wasn't any concrete positives to take from this game, but following the conclusion of the game it sounds as though at least one Maple Leafs player tried to salvage something from this game.
According to a report from 98.5 The Sports Hub's Ty Anderson, a player on the Maple Leafs attempted to skate away with the match puck despite losing. It is a sign of disrespect as the Bruins intend to use all their game winning pucks to form a hierachy and rack up all their pucks as "wins", from 1-16 in the playoff campaign.
The Bruins win Game 1 by a 5-1 final and the Leafs are trying to skate off the ice with the game puck. Referees had to intervene.
Personally, that behaviour was uncalled for by the Leafs, and safe to assume the Bruins players won't forget those actions made by the Blue and White. The series just got interesting as the B's lead 1-0.
