Minnesota Wild head coach John Hynes confirmed after today's loss to the Vegas Golden Knights that forward Marcus Foligno will have season-ending surgery. The decision comes after the team was effectively eliminated from the playoffs.

The Wild's playoff hopes were dashed today after the team lost to the Vegas Golden Knights. The game finished with a lot of drama as John Hynes pulled the goalie to go 4-on-3 in overtime in a desperate attempt to secure the two points, but the move did not work this time.

The Minnesota Wild pulled the goalie again in overtime, but this time it backfired...😬

While the Wild are not mathematically eliminated, the forfeited the overtime point by losing on an empty netter, effectively making it extremely unlikely for the team to make the playoffs. As a result, the team has decided to shut down forward Marcus Foligno for the season as he needs surgery to fix a nagging problem.

I'm hearing Marcus Foligno is being shut down and will need season-ending surgery. #mnwild

The Wild will look to regroup over the offseason as everyone gets healthy and they attempt to get back into the playoffs.
