Connor Bedard was the first overall pick in the 2023 draft and showed great promise in helping Chicago reclaim their fame. It came as a surprise and disappointment to many fans when he was out for a serious injury. However, it seems that this rookie center may be back sooner than expected.

Connor Bedard Expected To Return Next Week

Earlier this year, rookie Blackhawks center Connor Bedard suffered a fractured jaw from a hit by Brendan Smith of the New Jersey Devils. After needing time off for surgery and recovery, sources tell us that he may be expected back next week.

"Bedard could return next week for Blackhawks ⤵️"

After some recuperation and skating practice, Chicago coach Luke Richardson himself expressed that Bedard's return is imminent.

«We're hoping after that six-week mark (after surgery), so that will be a week from today, I guess."

Even with such a dramatic injury, Richardson explained that the medical intervention has now become unnecessary, with all healing going according to schedule.

"I think they just thought everything was on course, so I think maybe later in the week or early next week is probably when they're targeting for hopefully the last one. They just said it was useless to take another image with radiation. Everything was on pace and looks to be on the same timeline that they thought.»

The Chicago Blackhawks are currently performing worst in the lead, with less than half the points of the leading 9 teams. With playoffs just around the corner, Bedard's return still may be too little too late.
