In one of the more strange and funny stories to come out of NHL hockey in a while, Braden Holtby's tortoise dilemma is almost at an end. As we reported Wednesday, Holtby's wife Brandi had taken to Twitter pleading for help as her husband was stuck at the Canadian-U.S. border while attempting to make his way to his new hockey home in Vancouver. The goaltender had taken two tortoises with him, named Honey and Maple. He had apparently filled out the proper paperwork to travel over the border with the animals for the Canadian side, but had failed to fill out forms needed for the American side and was stuck at the border.

In her latest update, Brandi indicated things are starting to progress.

"Thank you to all of the kind souls out there who have made an effort to help! FWS (Fish and Wildlife) is aware of our situation and they are working towards a solution to get Braden and the boys home," Tweeted Brandi.

"I will let you know when they are safely in Canada sipping a Double-Double and sharing Timbits."

Maple and Honey have been pictured on Brandi's Twitter timeline a few times. She even managed to get a picture of one of them in an NHL net.

It looks like Braden will be able to continue on his way to Vancouver soon enough. He signed a two-year, $8.6 million contract with the Canucks in October. Just remember, never feed your tortoises Timbits.
