A cringe-worthy moment out of the Swiss National League playoffs involving a former NHLer and former AHLer. Emil Djuse, who spent a season with the Texas Stars and Springfield Thunderbirds of the AHL, is out for the remainder of the National League playoffs after an awkward collision along the boards involving former Detroit Red Wing Justin Abdelkader. Both had fallen, and Djuse's leg became trapped under Abdelkader. You can see the moment in the video when when his leg bends awkwardly and he grimaces in pain.
According to AftonBladet, Djuse's leg was broken in the incident and requires surgery. He will not return to the lineup this season, regardless of how far his team goes in the playoffs. Djuse plays for the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers, while Abdelkader is a member of Zug EV.
