Sharks claim rookie forward off waivers from Winnipeg

According to Curtis Paskelka of The Mercury News, the San Jose Sharks have claimed rookie forward Michael Eyssimont off waivers from the Winnipeg Jets.

Eyssimont, 26, was placed on the waiver wire on Thursday due to the impending returns of Blake Wheeler and Nikolaj Ehlers to the Jets' lineup, both of whom will play on Friday night vs the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Littleton (Colorado) native has appeared in 19 games for Winnipeg this season, putting up five points (one goal, four assists), seven penalty minutes and is a plus-five. Eyssimont scored his first career NHL goal on November 21st against the Carolina Hurricanes.

In order to make room for Eyssimont on the 23-man roster, the Sharks have placed defenceman Radim Simek on injured reserve.
