There won't be a suspension, but the NHL's Department of Player Safety has ruled that the New York Islanders' Alexander Romanov was in the wrong for his hit Saturday night on Vincent Trocheck of the New York Rangers. Romanov has been fined $5000, the maximum allowable under the CBA (of course), for charging.

The hit happened in the third period of the preseason game. Romanov was given a two-minute minor for charging on the play, which was offset by a two-minute minor for roughing to the Rangers' Jimmy Vesey. Here's video of the hit. While there's no official explanation from the referees, it seems Romanov leaving his feet was the deciding factor in the penalty and subsequent fine.
