Dinamo Riga will now participate in Latvia's top division, the OHL, which will now be made up with nine teams, including three from Lithuania after an agreement between both countries.
Following a joint announcement from the Latvian Hockey Federation and Hockey Lietuva, Lithuania's governing body, the two nations have teamed up to change the hockey landscape in the Baltic Sea region.
Dinamo Riga is the second team to leave the KHL after Finnish club Jokerit Helsinki announced around the same time they would be withdrawing from the Russian-based league. However for Jokerit Helsinki, they won't have a men's team participating in any league this year and will be looking to return to Finland's top division, Liiga, for the 2023-24 campaign.
🇱🇻 🇱🇹 Dinamo Riga has found a new home and joins the domestic league, OHL.
Champions Zemgale will additionally play in Finland and the Latvian OHL welcomes three teams from Lithuania.
