Tuukka Rask won't rule out retirement when current contract ends

With just one year left on his current contract, Boston Bruins netminder Tuukka Rask says retirement is a possibility once his current deal ends. He made the revelation in an interview with Matt Porter of the Boston Globe.

"I have one year left in the contract, so we'll see if I even play," Rask said in the interview. "We'll see. Always a possibility."

Asked if he would possibly return to Europe to finish out his career should he decide to leave the NHL, Rask said he'd prefer to spend time with his family.

No, no, I wouldn't. ... Family time." Rask said.

"Just be home. The wear and tear of the travel with two, almost three kids now, makes you think. I love to do it. But it's tough.”

In the 2019-20 season, Rask, 33, was first among goaltenders with a 2.12 goals-against average and second with a .929 save percentage when play was suspended. He was between the pipes for 41 games, while fellow Boston goalie Jaroslav Halak suited up for 31.
