Columbus Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine is set to become a restricted free agent on July 13th, but the 24-year-old said that there won't be any issues with signing a new contract with the team.

"I don't think it should be an issue, you know?" Laine said. "They have expressed they want me here. I've said the same thing. So, you know, the feeling is mutual. Just figure out the term and the money and all that, and I think we should be fine."

The Tampere (Finland) native had a bounce back season after a rough 2020-21 campaign. In 56 games this season, Laine tallied 56 points (26 goals, 30 assists), 24 penalty minutes, and was a minus-seven.

Laine went on to say that part of the big reasons why he wants to remain a Columbus Blue Jacket is because of his teammates and how helpful they were throughout the season.

"Everybody has been helpful with all that I had this year," Laine said. "I just always wanted to come back as soon as possible to these guys, and they have made it a lot easier for me, so I'll always be thankful for everyone here."

He added, "That's definitely a part of it, a big part of what I love about this team. It's like a big family, family atmosphere, everybody cares about each other. That's how it should be."
