Red Wings may be looking to move on from former sixth overall pick

The Detroit Red Wings have had one of the best prospect pools in the league over the last few years and it's slowly translating to success at the NHL-level in the way of Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider.

One name that hasn't panned out is 2018 sixth overall pick Filip Zadina.

Zadina is in his second full season with the Red Wings, but isn't producing as the organization had expected and according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, they could be looking to give the 22-year-old a fresh start.

"Another situation to keep an eye on: Filip Zadina, Detroit. Steve Yzerman never tips his hand; you can't help but look at it and wonder if it's time for a fresh start," Friedman said in his 32 Thoughts article.

The Pardubice, Czech Republic native has appeared in 40 games this season for Detroit, putting up eleven points (four goals, seven assists), four penalty minutes and is a minus-seventeen.

It's hard to predict what general manager Steve Yzerman would want in return for Zadina, but given that he's still young at only 22 years old, and has a ton of potential, the ask will probably be a lot, likely centering around a high draft pick.
