The always polarizing Don Cherry took to Coach's Corner Saturday night and explained why he believes the Toronto Maple Leafs won't be winning the cup in the near future. As you can imagine, it brought on a firestorm of support and condemnation on social media.

"Highly skilled team," said Cherry (we're intentionally omitting all the times he said "ya know" to make for much easier reading). "...but you cannot win unless you're tough in the playoffs (as) proven by St. Louis. 16 Canadians, Canadian coach and GM. Tough! Look what they did to San Jose...they took out [Tomas] Hertl, [Joe] Pavelski and [Erik] Karlsson. And I like what [Blues head coach Craig] Berube said, he says 'don't worry about the penalties."

Cherry went on to say that the Leafs might get by the 2nd round of the playoffs, but they won't win the cup with the current roster because the team isn't tough enough.

As you can imagine, there were tons of responses, both positive and negative, all across social media. There were some, and even come Leaf fans, who agreed the team isn't gritty enough to go all the way in the playoffs. Others gave the usual responses to Cherry's tirades, asking when the 85-year-old would be retiring and calling his opinions nonsense. You can take a look at Cherry's rant below, and then check out some of the responses.
