Social media was abound with speculation Saturday that Robert Kraft, owner of the National Football League's New England Patriots and Major League Soccer's New England Revolution, may be buying the Ottawa Senators. It all stemmed from a post on Snapchat by Katheryn Kraft, who many thought to be Robert's granddaughter. While the post has since been removed, you can see a screenshot of it below.

First of all, there seems to be no actual confirmation that Katheryn is the granddaughter of Robert Kraft. Secondly, NHL Insider John Shannon says it's not true, regardless. According to a tweet by Shannon, there are people "kicking tires" on the Sens, but billionaire Robert Kraft isn't one of them.

It would be the answer to many Ottawa fans' dreams if the team was sold and Eugene Melnyk was no longer the owner. Melnyk, a billionaire is his own right, has been embroiled in several lawsuits over the last few years, attendance at Senators games has been steadily dropping, and the team is not making the playoffs. Still, it appears Ottawa fans will have to wait at least a little longer before the club changes hands.

Kraft isn't without controversy either. On February 22, 2019, the police chief of Jupiter, Florida, announced that Kraft would face two misdemeanor charges for "soliciting another to commit prostitution", stemming from a human trafficking sweep in Jupiter. Those charged in the sweep were offered plea deals, but Kraft wouldn't accept it. The case continues in court.
