JIM BENNING STRUGGLING WITH CANUCKS POOR START AND FANS CALLING FOR HIS JOB

NOV 18, 2021  (15H55)      BRENNEN BEAUDIN
The Vancouver Canucks have been one of the most disappointing teams this season. After numerous additions to the team last offseason, the chemistry has just not shown up, and it has translated to a measly 5-10-2 record. Now Canucks fans are calling for Jim Benning's job, even worse than they have in the past.

«This is something I didn't expect to happen after the moves we made this summer,» said Benning. «We've worked really hard to draft well and develop our players properly.»

Benning brought in Conor Garland, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Jason Dickinson, Tucker Poolman, and Luke Schenn during last offseason in hopes of resetting the team back into playoff contention. Also, the long awaited arrival of rookie forward Vasily Podkolzin came to reality after he made his NHL debut this season, but he has struggled also with just three goals in 15 games this season bouncing up and down the lineup

The Canucks took on the Avalanche on Wednesday night, in a game where they ended up losing 4-2. Fans were not happy, and they let Benning hear it during the game, as fans could be heard calling for his job at Rogers Arena last night. «Fire Jim Benning» has been a common chant in Vancouver for a little while now, and as the team struggles more, it seems likely that they will not be going away anytime soon.
