Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin broke another record on Monday night versus the Ottawa Senators, and this was another one formerly held by Wayne Gretzky.

The game was very high in scoring, but the Capitals pulled out on top with a score of 7-5. Of course, arguably the greatest goal scorers in history had to be in on the action. Ovechkin tallied two goals in the game which actually helped him break an interesting record. He now has the most multi-goal road games in NHL history with 84, which passes Wayne Gretzky who had 83.

Through six games of the season, Ovechkin has 7 goals, which would put him at an astounding pace of 96 for the season. Obviously this pace is not sustainable, but it is great to see the 36-year-old still performing at such a high level. Along with this, he only trails Connor McDavid for most points in the league, as McDavid has recorded 13 points thus far compared to Ovechkin's 12.

Ovechkin continues to inch closer to the all-time goals record. He now is only four goals away from tying Brett Hull's 741 career goals for fourth on the all-time record list. John Scott recently called out Ovechkin saying that he had nothing left in the tank, but in six games since he said this, he has scored 2 more goals than John Scott did in his entire career.
