NHL legend Patrick Roy is finding himself in the news a lot lately when it comes to the Montreal Canadiens. Many insiders are predicting this will be general manager Marc Bergevin's last year with the team and he will let his contract run out without signing an extension. With that rumour came another this week as a Montreal media outlet reported that Canadiens owner and president Geoff Molson had met with Roy at least twice recently to discuss a possible position with the team. One has to assume that would be taking over for Bergevin once he's gone. Roy himself has responded to the rumour.

"Unsurprisingly, Patrick Roy denies rumors that he met Geoff Molson in the spring," said Journal de Montreal reporter Kevin Dubé

"If I had met him, it wouldn't have been at the Hilton," Roy is quoted as saying. "It would have been at the Capitol."

This was a joke on Roy's part. Le Capitole is a much fancier place than The Hilton.

The bottom line is, if Roy met with Molson, the chances that he would admit it now are slim to none, so this will likely do very little to put the rumours to rest. The idea of Roy getting the GM job in Montreal seems to be getting a very mixed reaction from Habs fans, with some saying he's the perfect choice and just as many others saying it would be a terrible decision.
