STARS FORWARD RADEK FAKSA FINED FOR VIOLENT SLASH TO THE WRIST OF SENS FORWARD TIM STUTZLE

OCT 18, 2021  (10H18)      MIKE ARMENTI
Dallas Stars forward Radek Faksa's bank account will be $5,000 lighter after being slapped with a fine by the NHL's Department of Player Safety for slashing Ottawa Senators forward Tim Stutzle on Sunday.

During a puck battle in the neutral zone during Sunday's Stars/Sens matchup, Faksa delivered a nasty two-handed chop across the wrist/forearm of Stutzle, which sent the German winger straight to the locker room.

The good news here is that Stutzle's X-rays have come back clean, clearing him of any structural damage - so it looks like a bullet has been dodged for the Sens, thankfully.

While Faksa was almost certainly targeting the stick on the play, it's dangerous to deliver those kinds of hard downward chops, especially with how fast the game is. That could have just as easily ended up being a broken wrist for Stutzle.

Faksa appears lucky to have escaped a suspension on the play.
