Cole Spicer, a top prospect of the Boston Bruins, has just been kicked out of school, likely putting an end to his promising hockey career.
For the foreseeable future, don't expect to see Cole Spicer playing any professional hockey after the recent problems he encountered with his school. Spicer has been dealing with some personal and mental issues in his life, which led him to be deemed academically ineligible to play for UMD next year. Following this development, Spicer came out and announced he needed to step away from the game to figure things out in his personal life.
#Bruins 🇺🇸 forward prospect Cole Spicer (@colespicer_10) 🇺🇸 is done playing hockey for the "foreseeable future."
Spicer is a 20-year-old who was drafted 117th overall by Boston in 2022. He played for the University of Minnesota-Duluth in the NCAA last season, where he put up five goals and four assists in the 17 games he played.
Fans have been showing the 20-year-old support online, wishing him well and letting everyone out there know that mental illness is no joke.
Just a reminder to the fans on here
you never know what someone is going through and why they make the decisions they do. I doubt someone who spent their whole life playing hockey would make this choice easily
I hope @ColeSpicer_10 finds his love for the game again
However this plays out for Spicer, it seems as though he has the support of the fans out there, which can hopefully give him the strength he needs to one day make a big comeback. The Bruins are surely hoping for this too.
