A recent report has suggested that almost every player is potentially on the trade block from the Columbus Blue Jackets. The source of this report also speculated on the future of the front office members in Columbus.
Blue Jackets Considering Major Firesale Amidst Massive Struggles
On Tuesday Bruce Garrioch a reporter for the Ottawa Sun and NHL insider took a look at the Columbus Blue Jackets situation. Garrioch has heard that the Blue Jackets' major struggles have led ownership to consider a major roster overhaul.
With the Blue Jackets open for business a major shakeup of some kind is likely in the cards before the end of the season. Whether it is Patrik Laine, Johnny Gaudreau or another piece the core will be shaken up.
Garrioch also speculated that the players on the ice might not be the only thing changing soon in Columbus.
NHL Insider Reveals Blue Jackets Front Office Are On The Hot Seat
As Garrioch continued talking about the Blue Jackets he mentioned the several missteps taken by the Blue Jackets front office over the last two years. The latest is the handling of the Mike Babcock hiring and ensuing scandal.
Garrioch believes that both John Davidson and Jarmo Kekalainen could be soon out of a job.
Shown the door before he could even step behind the bench after players complained Babcock was checking their phones during camp, the heat has been turned up high on president of hockey operations John Davidson and general manager Jarmo Kekalainen.
If Kekalainen and Davidson are making moves to save their jobs they could take some drastic steps. The Blue Jackets need to be careful to not let personnel on their way out of the organization jeopardize the future of the team.
