2019 first overall pick
Jack Hughes really struggled to score goals in his first couple of seasons, but his last 50 or so games he really found his touch. Just 21, Hughes is entering his fourth NHL season.
A weakness in years past has been his shot, but he has clearly been hard at work. Hughes can turn into a deadly shooter much in the way that
Johnny Gaudreau or
Patrick Kane have done. Neither are very large, but they still manage to pick corners consistently.
Hughes showed what he his capable of tonight against the New York Rangers in preseason action. Prospect
Alexander Holtz provided the screen in front, making
Louis Domingue' chances virtual zero with a right-catching goalie.
New Jersey ultimately fell in this one 2-1, but the former first overall pick is poised for a dominant season.
Of course, if he stays healthy.
